Nina Santos

Nina Santos holds a PhD in Communication from Université Panthéon-Assas and works as a researcher at that university and at the National Institute of Science and Technology in Digital Democracy. She served as Deputy Secretary for Digital Policy at the Secretariat of Communication of the Office of the President of Brazil (2025–2026). She also teaches in graduate programs at Fundação Getúlio Vargas and Sorbonne Nouvelle. She is the author of the books “Social media logics: Visibility and mediation in the 2013 Brazilian protests” (Palgrave, 2022) and “Como desarmar o autoritarismo no Brasil” [How to Disarm Authoritarianism in Brazil] (Tinta da China, 2026). She was awarded the Thesis Prize from Université Panthéon-Assas and the Todas Prize, from Folha de S. Paulo and Alandar, in the category “Democracy, Information, and Freedom of Expression.”
